First Blog

So this is my first time blogging. Hope this goes well, as I have no idea what I am up to.
We are currently less than two weeks out to the start of the service trip. We have all of our destinations set and are working on the last bit of itinerary planning. Rehearsals are going well. The band is sounding wonderful. We have increased in number this year, giving us the opportunity to add more instrumentation or switch people out to run tech with me!
I currently have a half-page to do list that I am working on in preparation for the trip. Most of the tasks involve labeling the equipment like a mad man so that everyone knows what goes where and who plugs into what. In some places we have only an hour or less to setup and sound check. So, the load-in process needs to work like a well oiled machine. I have full confidence that the group can do this, I just hope they understand my cheat sheets.
This year we will be taking the M7CL console on the road with us. I love this board and it makes my job much easier. Unfortunately for the four to six people that have to lift it, it also weighs much more than the DDA console that we have taken in the past. Either way, it is my baby and instrument that will accompany me on the trip. From behind the "M7", I hope to bring readers a glimpse of the preparation, trip, and return activities as the group sets out to spread God's love to communities in the Chicago area and Wisconsin.
More to come on the locations we are going to and the rest of the planning -- stay tuned
-Hans
